A-4 Project

Post  Dragnoxz on Thu Dec 25, 2014 3:11 am

Reason for implementation of A-4's. - some of us are underprivileged in GPEO. Not everyone has the best frames when flying. This A-4 project is a counter for this issue. They may be outdated aircraft, but with us having better frames when flying them, we may have a better experience in air operations. Since the A-4 is very appealing in regards to frame rates, can should begin a project to develop a GU version of the A-4's (A-4GU). It is possible to acquire some A-4C's and A-4PTM's, and A-4E's, some from Malaysia and Indonesia.

The A-4's are carrier capable, and with upgrades can carry a suitable air combat payload (4 Heat Seekers).

Malaysia has more than 70 A-4's, and Indonesia has more than 28.

We plan to enter a deal to acquire 50 A-4's from the Malaysian government and 20 from the Indonesian Government. A total of 70 A-4's.

20 of the A-4's from the retired Malaysian inventory (A-4PTM's) will be shipped to Singapore for immediate use. The other 30 may be shipped (from US storage) straight to WSAP to be upgraded to the GU's. It will take a few months after being delivered to have the first batches upgraded. Reason for them being shipped from the US is that Malaysia had several of the ones they purchased a while back held back to remain in the US to be stored and used for parts if needed.

Indonesia can have a batch of 20 E models fixed up and flown over to Flake Island NAS or to Singapore for immediate deployment by the next week or so if needed. These will not be upgraded till the first batch of Malaysian craft sent from the US are delivered and upgraded, if they are to be upgraded.

20 A-4E's will be from Indonesia (Can be deployed within 1-to-2 weeks)
20 A-4PMT's will be from Malaysia (Can be deployed within 2-to-3 weeks).
30 A-4C's Malaysian Owned will be sent from the US. (Could be deployed in up to 2-to-3 months)

All of these A-4's were retired by both the Malaysian and Indonesian Governments.

Whoever is up for working on this project feel free to post here your updates, from avionics to engine upgrades, as well as proposed GPEO Paint Schemes.

Flight Characteristics- We may be able to add or reduce weight to different locations on the airframe to increase maneuverability at slower speeds. Combined with enhanced engines (no more than 10-to-20 %) and maneuvering, they could stand a chance in air combat against modern craft. But ultimately, we will need to rely on joint maneuvers for most of the air operations using this craft.

Avionics- Standard GU models need a GPS, Radar, and all of the buttons for the radar plainly visible for easy usage through the VC. Auto Pilot for the 2D if desired, but Fighters are not really best for AP. All of the needs for basic flight, like attitude, speed, altitude, speed brake light, gear light, flaps light, etc. Basically, ALL of the basic needs for knowing Navigation and Craft Orientation, and other aircraft near by.

Paint- Paint Schemes need to follow the same format for GPEO aircraft. Any grey or even grey and green camo, (preferred dark grey 60-to-70 %). Model number 070, date can read 2015, and leave a space for a unit number. GPEO logos/insignia in proper areas, FREEDOM on the tail, maybe in visible (not too big) letters "FREEDOM FOR ALL, FREEDOM FOR LIFE" somewhere. Black Nose, and Black Leading edge of wings. That will represent the heat resistant coat for high speeds (not that the A-4 will be reaching such speeds).

20 A-4's have been converted to the A-4GU, with regards to the paint. The avionics are still being upgraded, and should be complete before the weekend. Some of the needed instruments needed were the Air Brake indicator (because when testing the craft we noticed the air brake was left deployed due to the lack of a visual cockpit indicator). Also, another instrument is the radar. We need radar, no questions about that. The F-16 radar system will be installed in all of the A-4's we have, along with the brake indicator. GPS will be installed as well. The GU will feature touch screen avionics, but the C model will not, they will just have the radar and brake indicator.
