F-4 Fighters
Looking for F-4 Fighter Jets, to fly and work on.Friend would like to try them out on FSX, and maybe fly with us. He use to fly during the Vietnam Conflict. Links and D-Load Files would be appriceated.
Re: F-4 Fighters

Re: F-4 Fighters
simviation sucks, you need payware.
Here's the Iris F-4: http://rapidshare.com/#!download|605tl|348467451|IRISPhantomFG.1.rar|76592
although i do not think it flies very realistic, i should be able to make it fly as it should if i get some feedback from actual pilots.
Or else i suggest looking for the Alphasim F-4
They released it as freeware: this is the link on simviation now: http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=virtuavia&x=23&y=12

Re: F-4 Fighters
Thanks you guys. I hope we can find someone who piloted them, so we can get the flight charictoristics on them correct.
Re: F-4 Fighters
Why in the world are you guys going with the f-4...... the only thing productive that old brick proved is that if you put a big enough engine on a piece of metal anything will fly. Hana but on a side note hello folks been a while but im still about. Now back to the phantom... common go with something like the ...well... go with snake's falcon or the old saab or something that is work more than a target drone
Re: F-4 Fighters
Hey cricket, nice to be seeing you again. Well, dragon wanted the F-4's to get his neighbours into flying because they like the F-4. It's not that everyone of GPEO is going to fly that brick
And there is a difference with flying a plane for fun and flying a plane for war. I assume the F-4 is just for fun.

Re: F-4 Fighters
Yea, for fun, and not only that, it would give more diversity to our group if we actually had a good brick to fly, and to brieng some History back to our group. As someone said, "It is not the plane, it is the pilot." And when we have a veteran of the F-4 whom knows the thing in and out, they might prove to us that the old Brick is still useful today, if used by the right pilot.
Re: F-4 Fighters
Ok glad its just for fun... but your only as strong as your weakest link... you may be the best pilot but he can only perform as well as the plane can
Re: F-4 Fighters
That is very well said cricket, but yeah, i said that the dogfight is determined by the pilots and less by the planes. That means you need to know your maximum turn rate speed and altitude and more. It takes a damn long while to get to know the plane fully.
But even if you have a better plane, and are less a pilot as your opponent with a weaker plane, it can beat you because you dont have the skill and knowledge to push the aircraft to its limits, and know how to act on surprise because the person would simply not know the exact characteristics of the aircraft.

Re: F-4 Fighters
Even if we used a Cessna, we would defeat our foes, because of our training and research. The enemy would rather us use a NUKE rather than F-4's, because even with F-4's, we could do consiterable damage to FSXF Sized forces. Size and Aircraft are not always the key, it is the training behind the pilot, along with the pilots personal devotion to doing the research into the craft the choose to fly.
$nake used his F-16 against my F-15, and successfully got some training victories on me, because he knew his fighter. (I got him more times, though, lol). Even if he got me 5-to-1, I would be glad that he went from not knowing how to turn a fighter from knowing how to kick my ass, lol.
In times of war, the first kill counts, there is no going back to learn from your enemy. This is why I call on pilots to train hard, because we all want to get the first kill in a 1-on-1 combat against our first war-time kills. In a VR-War scenario, we should do the BEST that we can to NOT get counted on, period.
Just being counted on in combat is bad on its own, so when we hear someone counting on us, dive, get speed and maneuver unpredictably. Roll, pull back, roll 40 degrees then pull 9 G's, a few times in one loop (360 degrees) of a turn, just to keep your opponent from counting in for any lock. When we can no longer get a lock on one another, that is when we are Equally Elite.

Re: F-4 Fighters
Dragon, now dont make me look so bad. I got you 2 times, you got me 3 times, because you had to go. Im actually trying to get the F-16 fly as it flies in real life, talking about the flight envelope of it. Because at the moment you can only pull about 7 g's right above sea level, while in real life, you can pull 9 only around sea level. The Iris can pull the 9 G's at some more altitude, i believe from 5000 to 10.000 ft.
This will be very difficult to get it right and dont expect me to finish it very soon. First have to find out what things in the AIR file adjust those values.
